About Mesa

Mesa is the Valley's second-largest city, running from downtown and the older neighborhoods near Main Street out to the newer subdivisions in east Mesa. Its median home was built in 1989 and 36% of households rent (Census ACS). It is also a winter-visitor town, with RV and manufactured-home parks full from fall to spring, so a lot of homes sit empty all summer with keys left with a neighbor or a park office. Mesa police recorded 1,384 vehicle thefts at the 2023 peak and 833 in 2025 (FBI).

Homes in Mesa

ACS 2020-2024 estimates put roughly 222,992 housing units in Mesa city. Renters occupy 36% of them; 30% of households arrived in 2020 or after; 5% of the buildings went up before 1960. Owners in newer houses make up most of the area, so the work is routine: getting back in, rekeying after a purchase, garage keypads, car keys.

Buildings with 10 or more units hold 14% of the housing. Rekeying after a move · Replacing car keys

Mesa by the numbers

The Census place for Mesa city is used here, the city as a unit, because its ZIP codes cross into neighboring towns.

The process

  1. Tell us the problem. Reach us by phone or text or through the form. Give the ZIP, say what is locked, and say how soon.
  2. One Valley lock business gets in touch. You hear the company's registered name and a single dollar figure with the drive already counted.
  3. Yes or no is yours. Nothing starts until you agree, and a door price above the phone price is grounds to send them away.

Mesa questions

Do you cover all of Mesa?

Yes. Whoever phones you back checks that your street falls inside their service area before booking a visit.

Will I know the price before work starts?

Yes. We ask each lock business we refer to for a phone total that already counts the trip, and for that same figure when they arrive. A higher number at the door means you can send them away.

Are locksmiths licensed in Arizona?

No. Arizona has no state locksmith license. Title 32 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, which sets up every licensed profession from barbers to contractors, has no chapter for locksmiths, and Phoenix doesn't add one. The one state license that can touch lock work is a contractor license from the Registrar of Contractors: under A.R.S. 32-1121, a job of $1,000 or more in parts and labor, or one that needs a building permit, generally calls for a licensed contractor. A lockout or a rekey is nowhere near that. What you can check is the business itself: its name on the Arizona Corporation Commission's eCorp search, a written total before work, and an itemized invoice with that name on it.
