Keypads in the Arizona sun
A keypad on a door facing west or south takes direct sun all afternoon, through a season with 120 days at 100°F or more measured in the shade at Sky Harbor (NOAA, 2016 to 2025). Before buying, look up the model's rated operating temperature. Put fresh batteries in each spring, ahead of the heat. Prefer a model with a physical key cylinder or a battery terminal on the outside, and keep one real key somewhere you can get to without the keypad.
Codes are keys too
